The cottage is situated about four miles west of the village of Torridon in one of the most spectacular mountain ranges of Scotland. It is a paradise for those who enjoy hill walking, climbing, fishing, touring, watching wildlife or simply getting away from it all.

Wester Alligin is a cluster of about ten cottages nestling in a small cove with an attractive shingle beach only 10 minutes walk from the cottage.

Besides the tarmac roads, footpaths lead to the villages of Diabaig, Inveralligin and Torridon and up into the mountains. Expert advice for walkers and climbers can be obtained locally especially from the Ranger at the Countryside Centre nearby in Torridon.

There is a small shop and visitor centre in Torridon village and petrol pumps and a bar at Ben Damph near to the Loch Torridon Hotel.

Within easy reach by car are Shieldaig and the Applecross peninsula, Lochcarron, Plockton and the Skye bridge, Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve, Loch Maree, Gairloch with its lovely sandy beaches, golf course and Heritage Museum, Inverewe Garden and even Ullapool.
